The Band
Jeremy had no choice but to pursue music. His father and step-father both played guitar while his mother and older brother both played piano. By the time Jeremy was 12, he was playing Garth Brooks and Steven Curtis Chapman tunes on a Sigma acoustic guitar. When Jeremy was 14, his older brother introduced him to Christian recording artist and Word Publishing writer Jeff West. Over the next couple years Jeff not only would take time and work with Jeremy but eventually would start hiring Jeremy to play for him. Jeremy would also start and front a couple of bands and also play bass for the well known Houston band Tommy Kickstand before going to college to study music. While in school Jeremy would also join the Dallas based band Joel Dennis and The Silent Kays, and eventually receive an invite to play the ASCAP Showcase at the Dallas Music Festival in the fall of 2004. Despite the success, Jeremy still wanted to do something different.
RagTop and RagTop fans are lucky Ryan is playing drums in this band. The first time RT rehearsed it was decided that Ryan was not the man for the job. Well in a bit of a pinch Ryan was called to play as a fill in for the first RT show. (how is he a fill in if he is not actually filling in for some one? HMMMM) Well when RT rehearsed again Ryan had it together, it was like listening to a completely different drummer!!! Needless to say Ryan is an original member of RT. The backbone, he keeps it together, he makes it exciting, he makes it whole. He always brings the right rock feel to TX music.
Eric was not born in Texas but, he got here as fast as he could, literally. He was born at March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA and moved to Texas before he was six weeks old. Even though his father played guitar and his mother played piano, he did not take an interest in music until his teens. Baseball and football were Eric’s main interests until he sat down at a piano while in junior high and two things happened. One, he realized he could play music by ear and two, he discovered while at a church camp that girls like guys that play music. Over the next few years Eric would play with his dad’s band and eventually start playing at church. While playing at church, Eric met former Warner Bros. recording artist Rick Crawford and started playing for him. During this time Eric would also take up guitar, mandolin, and percussion (Webster defines percussion as a technical term for “banging on them bongos like a chimpanzee” Thank you Mr. Knopfler)
Charles is an asset that RagTop can’t seem to get rid of. In October of 2005 he filled in for a show. Well, a year and a half later, he is still filling in. He has been very useful in helping RT define themselves, as well as contribute to song arrangements and even laying down some tracks in the studio for the album. He is best known as the front man of Three Fantastic. And he also has a project called Charles P. and the Ten Percent. Fans of Charles Peters should enjoy seeing him with RT because he plays a much different role going from front man to lead guitar player. RT fans always miss Charlie when he misses a show. Charlie has a way of making the whole band more energetic when he hits the stage, not to mention the guitar work Charlie and Jeremy put together definitely make RT a big guitar band. They don’t know how much longer they can keep him but they will tell you very quickly that he will always be an honorary member of RagTop. |
